Taco Land slaying tips good for $5,000

A week after the owner of Taco Land was fatally shot at his iconic bar, police Thursday announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men who are also responsible for wounding two others in the barroom robbery.

The award offer is good for one week only.

It marked the first time police confirmed robbery as a motive in the shooting that killed 72-year-old Ramiro "Ram" Ayala and seriously wounded two of his employees, Douglas Morgan, 53, and Denise "Sunshine" Koger, 41.

Crime Stoppers said Ayala was shot first in the early morning of June 24, as the assailants forced employees to give them cash at gunpoint. The men got away with an undetermined amount of money.

Koger and Morgan remain at University Hospital in good and serious conditions, respectively.

Police said one of the men they are looking for is Hispanic, in his 20s, with a light complexion, light colored eyes, short hair and medium build.

He wore a Spurs T-shirt. The other man called himself "Rick," spoke Spanish and English, was short and thin.

Tips can be given anonymously at Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP.
