DOUBLE HEADER AT SAM'S OCT. 8 - DOORS OPEN AT 9PM
Bombasta and Sexto Sol to share Sam's Burger Joint stage in unique collaboration
Two of San Antonio's hottest Latino bands will spice up the local music scene October 8th during a momentous concert event entitled "Barrio Massive: A Bombasta/ Sexto Sol Collective." In a departure from the typical opening-band/ headlining-band format, the two groups will share the stage at Sam's Burger Joint the entire evening. Both band's members will be rotating on and off stage, playing each other's songs and closing out the night with a jam session on some classic Chicano cover tunes.
Bombasta members represent both San Antonio and Austin, Texas. This seven-piece group fuses musica chicana, reggae, hip hop, cumbias and funk into a fresh mix of beats, rhymes and horn lines. The group is currently finishing their first independent CD release entitled "Ill Movimiento," to be released early 2006.
Sexto Sol brings sounds reminiscent of 70's Style Chicano Soul and are currently promoting their new album ¡Gozalo! They recently announced that 100% of the sales from their first, self-titled album will be donated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
The strong social consciousness of both bands is evident in both their lyrics and business style. They have invited community activist organizations to set up information tables at what's sure to be a well-attended musical event.
