Benefit this Sunday at the Hangin' Tree Saloon

The following email was reposted with permission from Carol Sowa of the Texas Music Coalition (TMC)

Dear TMCers,

This call is going out to our TMC membership to please try and make it by the benefit for Smoke Chapman's nephew this coming Sunday, if at all possible. Smoke has given generously of his time and talents to TMC events over the years, and we'd like to show him we support him in trying to aid his young nephew.

Also, ANY additional prize donations folks might care to donate to the benefit would be greatly appreciated. If you have something that you would like to donate to this cause, just bring it by the Hangin' Tree Saloon that day, Sunday, Jan. 29. The prize tables will be set up starting at noon.

Big John's Hangin' Tree Saloon is hosting the benefit from 2 to 7 p.m. for Smoke's nephew, Andrew Rousseau, whose mother (Smoke's sister-in-law) was murdered shortly before Christmas. The boy has medical problems related to diabetes and is greatly in need of assistance.

TMC bands and artists providing country, blues, rock and folk music for this event include Mesquite, Delta Ryde, Jimmy Spacek, Ashley Dixon [no website] and Sean Palen, with Wolfpack[no website] also on the bill.

A silent auction and raffle will take place, with prizes including a Crate 2010 series 100-watt amp and artwork by Elaine Eickenroht. (If you were at the TMC fund-raiser in October, you will have seen a sample of her unique artistry, examples of which were also seen at past Wiley Awards.)

The Hangin' Tree Saloon [map here] is located two miles north of Rolling Oaks Mall off FM 2252 at 18424 2nd St., Bracken, Texas 78266. Take FM 2252 (Nacogdoches Rd.) north, past Rolling Oaks Mall, then take the first right past the railroad tracks, go four blocks and turn left at the bowling alley. It's the second building on the right. For additional information, call The Hangin' Tree at (210) 651-5812 or visit www.hangingtree.com. The Hangin' Tree's famous kitchen will be open during this event for food purchases.

Smoke is a former officer on the TMC board of directors and will be remembered for initiating and heading the TMC Jam for several years.

Thanks for your support of this event!
Carol Sowa
