Barrio Massive 4

~El Robotico Presents~
BARRIO MASSIVE 4: A Night of Urban Latino Music
Bombasta Unites Cumbia & Latino Hip Hop Bands
From Across the State at Sam's Burger Joint, March 11th

On Saturday, March 11th, local Latino mix-masters, Bombasta, will host Barrio Massive 4 at Sam's Burger Joint. This will be the fourth event in the successful Barrio Massive series, which has generated buzz across the sate, since originating in October, 2005. Due to a scheduling conflict with Sexto Sol and in response to the growing state wide interest, Bombasta has invited two unique and energetic groups from outside of San Antonio to perform- Amistad from Dallas/Ft Worth and El Sancho from Corpus Christi.

AmistadAmistad

Amistad fuses Cumbia Colombianas with streetwise beats and rhymes. Mixing together accordions and turntables, this group is one of the forerunners in the "new cumbia revolution." Amistad is currently touring in support of their recent CD release, "2907" and will also be performing at the 'Tejano Fan Fair' earlier that day on the Concho stage on Concho Street at noon.

El SanchoEl Sancho

El Sancho has grown out of the Corpus music industry scene, with members who have worked with the Kumbia Kings and Conquesta. El Sancho mixes smooth Cubano vocal stylings with rap en espaƱ ol and cumbia rhythms. They are currently in the studio finishing production on their upcoming CD release.

Finally, local visionaries, Bombasta, will be hosting both bands, while adding their own unique blend of Spanglish politics and roots passion to the stage. Bombasta frontman, El Robotico, is the originator of the Barrio Massive concept and has become a unifying force between the musical and political communities. Bombasta brandishes a full horn section, as well as samples, guitar, accordion and lots of rhythm- creating one churning, cumbia/reggae/funk machine. They're currently in the studio working on their new CD,"Ill Movimiento," whenever they're not on the road touring the state.

Though there have been some changes in the line up, the concept of Barrio Massive remains the same- all bands rotating on and off the stage, collaborating on each other's music, all night long. Also participating in the night's events will be poets, DJ's and other guest performers, as well as local political activists and vendors. Contact Roberto Livar at 210.844.8043 for more information. Visit band websites at bombasta.com , amistadmuzik.com and elsancho.net for band bios, press clippings, fan postings, images, etc. Doors open at 9 PM; Music continues until 2 AM.
