Tribute to Ram Ayala
Patsy's Ice House —This weekend marks the anniversary of the birth of Ram Ayala, the iconic club owner murdered in his legendary Taco Land last year. Ayala will be remembered in a couple of places this weekend, including Patsy's with a weekend-long party that on Friday will feature Daylight Titans, Alcoholic Helltones, Bent Gents, 3 Kisses, Lowtides and Masota; on Saturday: Attempt at Nothing, Slopoke, Loaded, Los De Verdad and Masota; and on Sunday: Salvia Divinorum, Double Clutch, The Perturbed, Dispicables, Ese, Masota...
'Ram Jam'
The Limelight (6 p.m., $5) —It's dedicated to two beloved members of the local music community gone way too soon, Ayala and country punk musician Richard Hays. The benefit gathering, produced by Jerry Clayworth and Jeff Smith, combines a blood drive (6-9 p.m.) with a fun night of rollicking music from, in order of appearance, Rice & Beans, Miss Neesie & the Ear Food Orchestra, The Tombstones, Snowbyrd, The Hickoids, Los Mescaleros featuring Suzy Bravo, Los #3 Dinners and Big Drag. The music starts at 6, with all acts starting at the top of the hour, more or less. Proceeds benefit Kim Crawford Hays (Richard's wife) who suffered serious injuries in a fall at Christmas. Blood donors get a free "Ram Jam" T-shirt while supplies last.
