The Battle is Over, Vast Update & stuff

Well, the Battle of the Bands at Rock City Bar is over. So hard the last night...all the bands were so awesome! The winner was Remember This. They deserved it...and as far as I'm concerned, all the finalists deserved $1000, and if I had it, I would give it to them. I caught some more video clips and I will have them put together soon. Unfortunately, I didn't get one of Quartershackle, who closed out the night. Actually, I had one, but I didn't like it, so I erased it to get another one...turned out that was their last song. But they are very good, so check them out...they'll be back in SA soon at The White Rabbit.

I've just received an email that the Vast concert has been moved from Club Kristal to The Sanctuary, so tomorrow night: Vast, Beyond Hope, Gravity Euphonic and Bombs Over Berlin at the Sanctuary.

The schedule for tomorrow will be up a little late (sometime tomorrow afternoon, cuz I'm tired). Sorry.

Tonight I was out and about and stopped in for a short time at BoozeHounds to get a short glimpse of the Mark Odom Band (aka the M.O.B.). Couldn't stay for long, but I had heard a lot about them, so I stayed and caught a few songs. From what I heard, definitely a band I need to go check out longer. Really good guitar and vocals. Two things: 1) I realized that Seven Nation Army when turned into a jam must get damned boring for the bass player, lol! and 2) one gripe: if you're gonna play Voodoo Chile, the solo should be more BLUESY...that didn't work for me. Other than that, I thought they were awesome and plan to catch them again when I can stay all night! From what I saw, Mark Odom can take any song and make it into his own sound, and I think that's very cool.

Also, today I learned how to put videos onto a disc so you can watch them on a TV (I know, so simple, yet I've never done it, so it's a new thing to me), so if any band wants a video I've taken put onto a DVD, I just need them to donate a DVD-RW and I'll put it on there for them. Thanks to Suzi (from Suzi's Rock Page)'s son for telling me how. You rock!

Lastly, two more personal things. To the guy from New Orleans I was talking to at BoozeHounds: I know you'll probably never read this, but I think it sucks that your family is all messed up due to the hurricane and no help from local or national government, but glad you have decided that SA is a better place to live. (Though I've been to New Orleans and thought it was a beautiful place and I'm sorry that it's so fucked up and doesn't seem to be getting fixed!).

And to the "friends" of the guy who was convulsing outside of a certain bar the other night: YOU SUCK!!! You were so much more worried about whether your friend might get busted for coke than whether he might have died for doing too much. You risked his life trying to stand him up and get him out of there when he was in convulsions. All you were worried about was getting busted. As the cliche goes...with friends like you, who needs enemies? All you had to do was get all the shit off him and all that might have happened to him was rehab. And seeing as one of you said he had done this before, put down your straw for a second and consider if rehab might not be a good thing.

And to that guy, I don't know if you read this site or not, but I know that my hand is bruised from you grasping it because you were so scared. Please seriously consider giving up that habit. No good can come from it.
