On Saturday, July 8th, local musical visionaries, Bombasta, will be returning to the stage at Sam's Burger Joint, in what is remarkably their first official headlining position at the venue. After spearheading the local phenomenon, Barrio Massive (which has been put on hold over the summer) and traveling throughout the state performing at some of the choicest venues in the region, the self described Ritmo Mixologists are set to spark a movement at the local venue with special guests Mombasa Code.
Though Bombasta has hosted various bands in the past during their multiple Barrio Massive events at Sam's, this Saturday's performance will be the first time that Bombasta will be closing the night out unaccompanied. The band has been experiencing great success in their travels throughout the region and has developed a strong cartel of friends and collaborators. Local world beat fussionists, Mombasa Code, will be performing first, as well as DJ sets throughout the night by Bombasta frontman, El Robotico 2012.
Bombasta has continually developed their unique mix of Spanglish politics and roots passion into a high energy show, with musical influences ranging from Cumbia Colombianas to Hip Hop Soul to Rocksteady Reggae. Proceeds from all summer Bombasta shows are being directed towards the recording process, with a full length CD due for release in the Fall.
