During the month of July, KRTU is making a special commitment to support American soldiers abroad. In collaboration with the 1st Marine Logistics Group, KRTU is collecting jazz CD donations for use at the newly established Taste of Jazz Cafe on the Al Taqaddum military base 35 miles West of Baghdad. They are encouraging jazz fans in San Antonio to show their support by donating new or used jazz CDs to this effort to provide these soldiers in the field with a taste of home.
Donated CDs can be brought to the KRTU offices on the campus of Trinity University during regular business hours, or they may be brought to select live venues in San Antonio where KRTU will be holding donation drives. The entire project will culminate with the special send off party on July 20th at Blue Cactus Cafe, featuring a special performance from the well-known jazz band Small World from 8- 11pm.
