They were doing acoustic that night, which I wasn’t expecting. I really dug “No Excuses” in acoustic version. Wasn’t as crazy about some of the 80's tunes on acoustic. But the rest sounded good.
There are two videos of The Atomic Playboys on my YouTube:
1) Radiohead “Creep”
2) Weezer “Hashpipe”
Check ‘em out. They’re pretty dark, even after lightening them up (Frontlighting, people!!).
Saturday night, I went out with a very good friend of mine who was having some man troubles (you dang guys!). She needed a night out, and wanted to go to the monthly Ren Gathering out on the patio at Sam’s Burger Joint. Campbell and Wilson were playing. These guys were pretty entertaining. They do “Celtic and Heritage” music...some cool pirate songs. I really enjoyed “Drunken Sailor.” What do you do with a drunken sailor early in the morning? Evidently there are quite a few options, including shaving his belly with a rusty razor (ouch!).

They were having a raffle to win various objects, so even though I NEVER win anything, I bought a few tickets, and guess what? You got it! I actually won something! A brass compass (which DOES work...you guys were wrong), a little brass hourglass and a tiny collapsible spyglass, “guaranteed to bring objects one foot closer.”

If I understood correctly, this 3-piece set once belonged to this guy. Thanks, Captain Jack! I'm all set to sail!
If you like Celtic, Medieval, Renaissance style music, I found out about a cool site for it. It’s Renradio.com. Check it out.
I had given my friend a list of bands that were playing nearby to go see after the Ren Gathering was over, and she chose N’Somnia at Snoop’s. So we headed up there, dragging a male friend of hers with us. This guy drank 3 huge TANKARDS of beer at Sam’s, then drank some more at Snoop’s and ended up passing out in the bathroom for, like, 45 minutes. So a lot of our time at Snoop’s was occupied with getting this guy woken up and figuring out how he was going to get all the way home to Helotes in his condition. But it was fun nevertheless.
Also, the two videos I have of N’Somnia on YouTube (Stranglehold and Immigrant Song) have gotten quite a good reception from YouTubers. So I took this opportunity to get another N’Somnia video to put up there. Here’s a cool one. It’s Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall part II,” complete with “The Happiest Days of Our Lives” leading into it. Great job!
