Ruben V Schedule & Rocky Morales

from Ruben V's newsletter:

This week we start out on Thursday the 10th at Stonewerks Big Rock grill show starts at 9:30 pm.

Friday the 11th we are back at Harmon's Barbecue in Cibolo Texas. Get there early it get's packed quick!

Saturday the 12th we will be part of a big night and benefit for one of my best friends John Davidson. Hard times have fallen upon him, and most guitar players know him for the great amp work he has done for you and myself over the years. I will let you know more details in a couple of days.

Ruben also included the Express-News piece about local saxophonist Rocky Morales, a little of which I've included here. You can read the rest here.

Eracleo "Rocky" M. Morales, a tenor saxophonist who was a fixture of San Antonio's music scene and a founding member of the West Side Horns, died of cancer Wednesday at University Hospital. He was 65.

A musician to the end, Morales died with a song on his lips, though it was muffled by an oxygen mask.

"The nurse said, 'He's humming something.' I said, 'Well, he's a musician,'" said Helen Morales, his wife of nearly 47 years. "His life was music."

Besides his wife, Morales is survived by daughter Sylvia Ann Morales; son Eracleo "Rocky" Morales Jr.; mother Zoila Alfaro; stepfather Moses Alfaro Sr.; three sisters, Irene Arellanes, Yolanda Schmidt and Gloria Trevino; brother Moses C. Alfaro Jr.; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
