Description:

San Antonio's legendary bluesman, Giant of the Tenor Sax, and (as proclaimed by Doug Sahm) "King Of San Antonio's Eastside", VERNON "SPOT" BARNETT, has pulled out all the stops for this return engagement of his EASTWOOD BLUES REVUE!

This All-Star extravaganza does much more than simply pay homage to the glory days of San Antonio blues.... It's actually a rare opportunity to see & hear many of the famous stars of the Eastwood Country Club, The Ebony Lounge, The Keyhole Club, and more, perform LIVE and IN PERSON onstage together!

Presented in the style of the old "revue" shows, this will be a full evening of fantastic blues, R&B, and a heaping portion of that funky ol' soul. The time to move on the dance floor is NOW!!

Spot's Eastwood Revue band includes a Who's-Who of talented performers who's professional careers in some cases began in the late-1950's.... Lil Henry Warren, Burl Ellison, and Mr. Raymond T. (also a featured vocalist) on guitars, Albert "Grip" Bonner on bass, Danny Hickman keepin' time on the drums, Mike Sanders on Trumpet, and vocalists Lil Roger Gonzales & Miss Ollie V., and of course the icon himself, Mr. Spot Barnett on tenor sax, clarinet, piano & vocals.

Other featured guests making appearances will be guitarist Francis Tolbert, bassist Elmo Durst, and the Wildman himself, Mr. Ronnie J. Porter singing & rockin' his guitar like none other!

We're talking about a night filled with players who are not-only great talents in their own right, but with a professional history trail that runs through acts like Ray Charles, James Brown, The Temptations, Bobby Bland, The Texas Tornados, Ike & Tina Turner, and so many more!

So as you can plainly see, this is going to be a historical night at Sam's Burger Joint, filled with blues & soul performed by an All-Star cast of those who were there when it all started in San Antonio!

The night is being dedicated to the late Wilbert "Quinia" Gonzales Jr., who passed away recently. Quinia was the son of renowned San Antonio bandleader, Ponty Guitar. Gonzales, who learned to be a well-rounded musician & performer from his famous father, would become one of the area's finest blues and R&B drummers. He played stints with the likes of The Ike & Tina Turner Revue, The Gap Band, Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Mighty Clouds Of Joy. Quinia was also a fixture in various formations of Spot Barnett's bands & orchestras throughout the last 40+ years. Of Gonzales, Barnett says "He was one of the very best! There was no instrument (Quinia) couldn't play, and his skills never diminished in his entire career!"
