New cover/original band critic at work....

San Antonio bands beware...

A guy with some musical talent -as evidenced by Rowan's willingness to let me hit this blog with my slightly college educated choice of words- is out and about San Antonio. I'm on the prowl, writing under the cloud of a pseudonym so I don't get death threats and offers of bribery for good reviews. Yes, that's right folks, you guys can try to figure out who I am, and I will be out reviewing both cover bands and original bands alike and posting my reviews to this blog, in hopes that my honest accounts of what I saw and heard will make a difference, and be well received by the musical community. The beauty in this... You'll never know when I am in the crowd, making mental notes. Don't look for a notepad or a tape recorder. There won't be one. I am going to tell it like it is, and I hope the bands of this great city understand I am only attempting to provide a valuable service; helping decent bands get good, and helping good bands get better. I am going to set up an e-mail account for CD reviews, so if you have an original band and want to hear what I think about it, let me know. Just know that I will be posting my reviews on this blog, and hoping you guys take my "Kudos" with a grin, and my "Barbs" with a grain of salt. I've heard some great bands in this town, and I've heard some crap. It's time to let you all know where I stand. You might be wondering right about now, who I am and what my credentials are. I do have them. But if I were to share them, a few select people in the music community would be able to figure out who I am. So, you'll just have to trust me. Bottom line, San Antonio has a great music scene, and I hope to draw attention to it as much as I can. I am not out to make or break bands, only to tell you what I honestly think, and not be harsh about it, unless your band truly just has no business whatsoever touching a musical instrument. The performances will be graded on a scale on half points, 1 to 5 stars, plus commentary of course. Pardon me if I don't get everyone's name in the band, asking around tends to draw attention that some idiot is asking who everyone in the band is. I may refer to the bass player as the, uh, bass player... etc. Feel free to respond and call me whatever you want. I have thick skin and can take it. But know this, I am a music lover and only aim to help bands know where they are going right, and where they are going wrong. Final note before I go out and catch a couple of bands tonight....
