Friday night at Jigger's Snake Skin Prison from Austin played on a loaded bill with four other bands. The last time they played in San Antonio was at The South Texas Rock Fest last summer. (They are currently on a whirlwind Texas tour getting ready for the Jagermeister tour this spring)
They quickly loaded their gear on stage and Matt Ballangee (singer/guitar) yelled a big welcome to San Antonio. The Jiggers crowd was ready for some Hot Rod Rock n Roll and Snake Skin Prison was ready to hand it out.
Matt then hit the first chord and dedicated the first song “I Ain’t Workin Anymore” to the 'working man'.
The band rocked through their set with songs “Buried in life”, “Suicide junkie” and “Rock n Roll Pain Train” from their debut cd.
During “Suicide junkie” Keith Ploeger (bass & vocals) brought back memories of Cliff Burton with his head banging and searing bass solo.
The band gave the crowd all they had as this was evident by wild drummer Josh Fulp being drenched in sweat as he had his double bass pumping all night!
The band also worked their magic with the crowd as Keith made good use of his wireless by walking through the crowd, shaking hands, and also letting people play his bass.
The band was ready to finish their set with their hot rod rock n roll song “Outta Control” but after they finished the song the soundman motioned to them that they had one left.
They finished the set (and the night) with the classic W.A.S.P. song “Blind in Texas”!
This show was something special.
It will go down as one of those shows that later, when these guys are big and famous, I can say I saw them in a small venue.
They came up to us after the show and were very appreciative that we came out to support them. They are playing as many shows as they can and this spring will be on the Jagermeister tour.
These guys definitely deserve all the good things that will be coming to them. Look for them on the road touring this spring on the Jagermeister tour.
