Rocking blues
Guitar man, singer and songwriter Ruben V will front an all-star band at Luna on Thursday. V will take the stage with bassist Tommy Shannon, drummer Barry “Frosty” Smith and guitar ace David Holt at 9 p.m.
V is no slouch, as his legion of local/area fans will attest. At Luna, he'll work with guys who have made music with a “Who's Who” of Texas (and beyond) rock and blues. Shannon is half of the storied Double Trouble rhythm section whose credits include work with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Krackerjack, Arc Angels and Storyville.
Frosty has worked with Lee Michaels, Chris Duarte, Papa Mali, Soulhat and Guy Forsyth. Holt fronts his own band and also has made guitar magic with Carlene Carter, Rosie Flores, the Mavericks, Storyville and Joe Ely. Listen for V and his friends to serve up some standards and some surprises.
