RIP Craig

Craig Steven Whitaker, 55, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2009, while celebrating his daughter, Kayla's twenty-first birthday. He was born on October 7, 1953, in Lewiston, ME, to Earnest L. Whitaker and Doris (Bailey) Whitaker from Turner, ME. He is survived by his wife Lisa of 25 years and a beloved daughter, Kayla, of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Whitaker of Lewiston, ME, a brother, Brad and his wife, Pam, of Winslow, ME, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews from Alabama, Maine, and Texas, and his loving church family at Bethel United Methodist Church. Craig was dedicated to music from early teen years throughout his life. He started playing bass guitar in a high school band and his love of music grew to include classic rock, blues, country, gospel, and his passion, jazz. Kayla says, "Music was like oxygen for daddy!" He was an amazing person who always put others before himself. He was the "best daddy" and role model a girl could ever have, and a devoted, loving husband. He touched so many people with his generosity, wisdom, and talent. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Bethel United Methodist Church , 227 S. Acme Road, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for the family of Craig Whitaker, donations can be made to: Bethel United Methodist Church, 227 S. Acme Rd., San Antonio, TX 78227.
