Taco Land

After a week full of speculation and short on facts, it's semi-official if not fully confirmed: the property that was tacoland is now owned by david m. adelman (a partner and vice president at sa developers cross & company, not the houston plastic surgeon... as initially reported) and ricardo chavira (sa's secondary claim-to-fame from teevee's desperate housewives) doing business as tacoland studios, llc. while rumors have flown since monday about the purchase including both the name tacoland and the name/image of ramiro "ram" ayala (entirely possible but not confirmed), the venue will reportedly be reopened as the grayson st. ice house, with billy bob thorton and his band booked to be the inaugural act (apologies for the prior error purporting that the band will be running the place - an unfortunate miscommunication.) the timeline is estimated at 8 months, putting opening around december of this year or january 2012. the beloved centenarian-plus live oak tree is reportedly safe. apparently, the first architect on the project was summarily fired after suggesting the tree be razed to free up an additional 1,000 square feet for redevelopment.
