175th Anniversary of The Alamo, Celebration Commences Saturday March 5th

"The Alamo didn't get the $400,000 in sponsorships it needed to have Phil Collins and other major performers at a nationally televised concert. But the city “realized the importance of marking the 175th anniversary,” and has joined the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in coordinating the events, with help from a few private sponsors, Caridi said.
The Alamo is asking churches to ring their bells 189 times at 6 a.m. March 6, in memory of the known defenders who died in the predawn battle."
We were all looking forward to Phil Collin's performance and are wishing him a speedy recovery from a back injury...

Sounds Under Radio Co-Headlining Saturday, Feb. 26th (Many thanks to Llya!)
http://soundsunderradio.com
Members: Lang Freeman, Bradley Oliver, Sonny Sanchez and Doug Wilson
This Saturday, Austin-Based alternative rockers, Sounds Under Radio will be in town to promote their forth-coming album, "Where My Communist Heart Meets My Capitalist Mind", set for May 3rd release via The Musebox/EMI Distribution.
Utilizing themes of propaganda and covert communication, the band's ever present morse code logo also plays an integral roll in both the art and concept of this record.
This is an album that investigates a marriage of opposites and the collision of conflicting forces. Intimacy is merged with moments of grandeur and beautiful things are destroyed by the grotesque, all with the purpose of seeing what remains when the dust settles.
The band is similar to that of Muse, The Editors, and Dredg, providing an earthy, beautifully written harmonies in each and every song.
Sounds Under Radio offer a brandishing of Americanized Brit Rock with stadium-sized, beautiful chaos that has been catching on with haste. Additionally, since 2007, Sounds Under Radio has found a string of success in film and TV, with placements in Spider Man 3 (Sony Pictures), The Wolfman (Universal Pictures), and CW's "The Vampire Diaries."
PRESS:
"I don't know who these Sounds Under Radio folk are trying to fool, but that is a big-time rock 'n' roll band masquerading as some unsigned indie-emo whatsits"
- Entertainment Weekly

Ian Moore & The Lossy Coils @ The White Rabbit, Friday March 4th
I love his choice of venues, the man is whimsy to say the least; He just played in Wimberley (population maybe 4,000) at a small cafe, and is back again at The Rabbit as he was about 5 years ago...
"El Sonido Neuvo" will be released March 8th.
