Echale! Latino Music Estyles at The Pearl Brewery; Grupo Fantasma and Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta, Sunday Oct. 2nd

Free Popular Music Series Featuring Genre-Bending Latin Music From San Antonio To The Farthest Reaches of Latin America

The first Echale! on October 2nd and sponsored by Corona Extra, will feature Grupo Fantasma and Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta. The highly acclaimed Austin-based Grupo Fantasma mixes Latin and Funk, garnering “Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban Album” Grammy for their latest album, El Existential. The 10-piece orchestra is praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre. Originally from Tucson, the twelve plus members of Y La Orkesta resurrect Perez Prado’s sound, which is influenced by Mambo. It combines traditional Cuban rhythms with the swing of American Jazz, and Big Band harmonic sophistications.

Echale! is back on October 29th, this concert is sponsored by both Corona Extra and Time Warner Cable, with a line-up that includes Girl In A Coma and Pinata Protest. San Antonio’s Girl In A Coma have left a permanent mark on the hearts of music lovers with their piercing sound and nuclear performances. A mix of Punk, Tejano, Rockabilly, classic Rock n’ Roll, Rancheras and Indie ballads all contribute to their unique sound. Pinata Protest hails from South Texas bringing with them a Punk, “Rock y Roll” sound that is all their own. One of the most original forces on the local music scene, their music is an infectious crowd pleaser.

“Echale! is both a celebration of Latin music and the vibrant, creative culture of San Antonio” said Elizabeth Fauerso, Chief Marketing Office at Pearl. “Our past concerts have been such a success and we are happy to be bringing Echale! back to Pearl for the people of San Antonio to enjoy.”

The Pearl amphitheater seats roughly 1,000 but Pearl is inviting latecomers to bring lawn chairs and blankets in case seating is scarce. Feel free to bring snacks and refreshments, Pearl will also be offering a Mexican beer bar.

Parking will be available onsite, and please make sure to remember the Koehler garage, which has more than 300 parking spaces.

For more information, go to www.atpearl.com.
