Local Music Week in San Antonio April 1st - April 7th 2013
Local 782 rallies a week-long, city-wide, cross-promotion event
San Antonio, TX – Local
782 is happy to announce the fourth annual Local Music Week (LMW), a
week-long celebration of our rich local music community. This year’s
citywide event runs April 1st - through April 7th, Monday through
Sunday.
For
the last three years, San Antonio music coalition group Local 782 has
initiated Local Music Week created to showcase San Antonio's diverse and
united music community. Embracing that all parts of the community are
equally important, the message of LMW has resonated across the city,
gaining support each year - from the musicians, to the venues, to the
fans and everything in between. In 2012, LMW received local radio,
print, and television attention as well as with the online community.
Also, in a milestone achievement for the community as a whole, Mayor
Julian Castro presented Local 782 a certificate of official appreciation
in honor of Local Music Week 2012. This week-long, city-wide,
cross-promotional event aims to foster a greater sense of community and
bring out new local music patrons.
Some
of the highlights of LMW 2013 include the San Antonio Music and Media
Mixer, introduced in 2009 by Local 782 as an occasion to bring together
the local music and media community, plus supporting businesses,
organizations, fans, and everyone in between. This year’s SAMMM will
take place at Geekdom (112 E Pecan) on Monday evening, April 1st from
6-8pm. The official after-party and LMW kickoff event via Radio House
Media will take place at Nightrocker Live (605 San Pedro). The event is
free, but exclusive to patrons over 18. Wednesday, April 3 BlackNote
Galleria (5740 Wurzbach Rd.) hosts a free, all ages showcase. On Friday,
Generator Sound is hosting a Sampler Release Party at War Room (2718 N
St Marys), plus Ernest Gonzales’ Thump210 production house is hosting an
electronic music event at Korova (107 E Martin) featuring locals Sonora
and District 1 city-councilman Diego Bernal. Saturday, SATXMusic and
GTV help candidate Gabriel Velasquez throw a free, all ages variety
showcase on the Southside of town at Pica Pica Plaza (910 SE Military
Dr.) from 12-5pm. Then, that night, Last Nighters have a live vinyl
recording at Espresso Gallery (529 San Pedro) while Pop Pistol hosts a
multi-genre showcase in The Basement at Revolution Room (8123 Broadway).
LMW closes on Sunday, April 7th with a free all ages live music event
at Main Plaza downtown (111 Soledad) from 12-5pm.
An official Local Music Week calendar is being hosted by SATXMusic.com at www.satxmusic.com/
