HYPERBUBBLE SYNTHPOSIUM II at Landa Branch Library, March 22

"Hyperbubble's next gig is at ... a library?"

"San Antonio electro-pop duo Hyperbubble has played everywhere from South By Southwest in Austin to the McNay Art Museum and San Antonio Museum of Art to a roller-derby championship  match.

Sot it’s not really that surprising that they’ll play Saturday at a library.
The duo — keyboardists/vocalists Jeff and Jess DeCuir, who are marital as well as musical partners — will bring their marriage of music and visual arts to the Valero Pavilion at the Landa Branch Library, 233 Bushnell Ave., at 2 p.m. Saturday. They’re scheduled to demo of their electronic instruments, tell how they got started in this genre (they’ve been at it for more than a decade after working in separate bands) and hold a Q&A with the audience.
“Because of my experience with art shows, I work on themes and concepts, and I’m a sounding board for Jeff’s compositions,” Jess said of the duo’s MOA in a 2011 interview with Express-News music writer Jim Beal Jr. “We bounce ideas off each other, and I add my voice.”
Those ideas included a cute gray-and-white kitty named Smokey playing an important role in the video for the duo’s tune “Candy Apple Daydreams.”
Anyway … organizers suggest folks bring a chair or blanket Saturday. And if it’s raining , don’t bother –the event will be canceled. Electronics don’t do well when wet.
The program, dubbed “Synthesizers With Hyperbubble” (or “Hyperbubble Synthposium II” on the band’s website)  is part of the San Antonio Public Library’s “Lifelong Learning” program."
