Las Cafeteras began in 2005 as a group of students frequenting the once traveling Eastside Cafe decided to learn the Son Jarocho musical style. The students-turned-musicians saw the style of Son Jarocho as an avenue to encourage community autonomy and solidarity as well as a way to expose a wider community to different styles of música. Las Cafeteras have since opened up for international superstars such as Lila Downs, Ozomatli, Los Aterciopelados, and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, to name a few."
