URBAN-15 40th Anniversary, Saturday

"URBAN-15 Group will host a block party in honor of their 40th anniversary on July 19, 2004. The San Antonio arts organization, which became a nonprofit in 1984, held its first music event in July 19, 1974. Since then, URBAN-15 has devoted itself to developing the arts in San Antonio through its community-based dance and drum ensemble known for their appearances at Fiesta parades and other public events, and through their Cultivation program of music and movement classes offered to youth and seniors.


The event will begin 2 p.m. in the URBAN-15 Studio located at 2500 S. Presa and feature live music, poetry, and short films. The outdoor portion of the event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m on Dunning St. between Kinney and South Presa, featuring food booths and entertainment including local musicians, poets, and performing artists. The event is open to all ages and free to the public to attend.
