Eye in the Sky's very own Emily Bell and The Tontons will be
performing with Nakia Friday, March 29, at Fitzgerald's in San Antonio, Texas at 10 p.m.
Headlining the show will be Nakia, blues and soul songster
with a penchant for style. Fresh off the release of a new record, “Drown in the
Crimson Tide”, he’s been busy headlining an Austin residency, frequenting the
Saxon Pub and joining Cee-Lo for his TV Christmas special. Well known for his performances during Season
1 of NBC's show, The Voice as part of team Cee-Lo.
Emily Bell, who will be opening the show that evening, is a
soulful Austin-based musician. Her music carries the perfect mix of a 1960s
girl group soul and indie rock with an edge. With her Texas roots it is no
surprise that this songstress has some gutsy, stomp rock songs. Her performance
at the showcase on March 29, serves as the perfect teaser for her upcoming
album release.
The evening will also feature Austin-based Eye in the Sky
group, The Tontons. The band is fronted by female lead, Asli Omar, whose strong
vocals are a key identifier for this group. Their music is characterized by
poignantly poppy melodies with a touch of blues by way of the honey-sweet,
flowing vocals of Omar. Their performance on March 29 at the Korova will be the
kick-starter for their Spring 2013 tour.
