John is no “stranger” to San Antonio. Many know John Boyd as the frontman and lead singer of San Antonio based Passing Strangers. You know... the band that did the remake of Dream Weaver! After being based out of Dallas, Tx and Boulder, CO for awhile John is back to his hometown with his debut solo album “Passing Strangers and Funny People” produced by Mattson Rainer.
John’s music is reminiscent of 1976-1984 album rock. Rootsy and soulful songs on a “pop” canvas. The album includes performances from friends Cody Canada (Departed, Cross CanadianRagweed), Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Walt Wilkins just to name a few.
The band will include: Chris Dodds and Dennis Fallon (formerly of Two Tons of Steel), cellist Aurelia Rocha, and Ray Tamez on lead guitar!
King Pelican is a must see! This is a powerhouse band of “who’s who” musicians delivering instrumentals from the 50’s and 60’s as well as their own music of the same genre! The show includes surf music and the batman theme delivered with precision and authenticity!"
