Mitote Records Summer Releases
San Antonio, TX - Mitote Records is excited to announce its first releases of 2013, ska-pop septet Bite Lip Bleed and 5-piece dance rock band Secrets and Irises. Both bands are female-led and set to release their records in late June.
Mitote
began as an imprint label by Pop Pistol for the vinyl re-release of
2008’s Angelus, a split LP/EP combo CD, and their second full-length
album, Animal Prisms. Mitote Records also expanded to include Langton Drive on its roster with the release of their self-titled debut EP.
This year, Bite Lip Bleed and Secrets and Irises join the Mitote team,
both releasing EPs.
Bite
Lip Bleed is a new effort by former SA ska band Kevin Goes 2 College’s
vocalist Jen Cavazos and Silent Minority's Juancho Aguirre with rhythm
and horns section from various local projects. This group of veterans
young and old combines a party vibe with serious backbone. The “Settle
for a Funeral” EP release party is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at Hi-Tones (621 E Dewey) with support from Viet-Ruse and label mates Pop Pistol. 21+, $3, 9:30pm
Secrets
and Irises has found a solid lineup from its original inception four
years ago with the addition of powerful young frontwoman Kelsey Novak.
The band’s sound has evolved to incorporate a blend of indie rock with
head-nodding electronic dance music fit for a good time. The debut EP
was recorded and produced by the band itself with Alex Scheel as
mastering engineer. Saturday, June 29
is reserved as the official release party at Jacks (3030 Thousand Oaks)
which also features The Uprising and Bright Like The Sun on the bill.
All ages, $5/21+, $7/minors, 9pm
Mitote
Records is a project by San Antonio musicians who, through their
experience, have developed a method to become self-sustaining as a band.
The goal now is to share that knowledge with other aspiring independent
artists.
