'Join us this Sunday for Siclovia a free event that turns major city streets into a safe place for people to
exercise and play!
On September 29, 2013, Broadway--between Alamo Plaza
and Lions Field on Mulberry--will be closed to automobile traffic so
the streets become temporarily car-free for families to run, ride bikes,
and enjoy their city streets.
Music, healthy food, fitness
demonstrations and more will line the street for this free, family
event.
This year, kick off the fun with the Síclovía 5K run! The race will start and finish downtown at Alamo Plaza in front of the Alamo. Your participation in the 5K will help support future Síclovía events. Registration is required.

The modern day Ciclovía originated in Bogotá, Colombia 30 years ago.
Bogotá began their program with 8 miles of open streets. Ciclovía was so
popular, today, they open over 70 miles of car-free streets to their
citizens and connect city parks to provide green spaces for Reclovías.'
