Cool Peeps on MySpace

As most of you probably know, I have made SA Rocks a page on MySpace. I have met many really cool people on there already and found some really cool sites! Just want to share a few:

http://www.myspace.com/scratchezine is the page of the cool Scratch! E-zine, an online magazine focusing on the South Texas music scene, with concert and CD reviews, featured bands, and even short stories. They have a compilation CD coming out soon featuring the music of local bands (I won one on their MySpace contest!).

http://www.myspace.com/texasgigs is the MySpace page for the site TexasGigs.com, which is a blog focusing on Texas-based bands, venues, festivals, etc. They also have TexasGigs.com Radio, which broadcasts live Tuesdays 6-8 PM from Standard and Pours in Dallas.

http://www.myspace.com/thisistexasmusic is the page for a web site called This is Texas Music, which features Texas music news and reviews from a guy who loves music.

http://www.myspace.com/thesceneproducer is the page of the producer of the San Antonio public access show The Scene (Tuesday nights at 12:30 AM on channel 20). You can find out more about The Scene at http://www.thescenerocks.com/

http://www.myspace.com/musicgorilla, based in Austin, is a site that artists can join to get their stuff heard by members of the music industry. They have "written agreements from a&r reps, film/tv music supervisors, and other industry professionals to use our site to find new artists." Membership is $25/month. The official site is MusicGorilla.com

http://www.myspace.com/iacmusic is the page of the Independent Artists Company, which is a site all about indie music. They really seem to make an effort to seek out and promote great independent talent.

http://www.myspace.com/sykoradio is a group of DJs who stream music, talk shows, comedy, and even TV over the internet to the masses. Their aim is to play stuff you don't hear on the radio, geared toward "subculture orientated people as well as those with a wide taste and apprecation for music". See their blog on MySpace to find out how to become a featured artist. The actual URL for SykoRadio is http://www.sykoradio.net/

http://www.myspace.com/houstonrocks has information on what's going on in Houston. It is a testbed for My City Rocks, which aims to get people more involved in their city's arts & music scene. Soon to be expanded to other cities. Check out the My City Rocks project at http://www.mycityrocks.com/

Musicians Exchange is a place to meet other musicians, share and promote your music. They also have a Musicians Exchange MySpace group where you can talk about anything having to do with music.

the last record store is a page by the writer/director of "the last record store", a new documentary film about legendary Dallas indie record store Bill's Records. The project focuses on owner Bill Wisener and his ongoing struggle to stay open after 23 years in the business. Includes live instore acoustic performances.

OK, for now I'll stop, because I've met so many cool people on there, including bands from SA and other places and other people who are just really into music, that this post could go on and on! If you have a page on MySpace and I haven't found you there yet, send me a message on there or add me as a friend. San Antonio Rocks!!
