Some of you may have already noticed, but in case it crept by you, there are a couple new things around here.
First of all: the SA Rocks forum. Here's a place to discuss whatever you want to with fellow SA Rockers...everyone else is welcome too! Go check it out...leave something there! Use it to meet fellow musicians or whatever you like!
Second of all: I have found it necessary to seek sponsorship in order to maintain and expand this site. It costs me money to house the mp3's and the free (for you) ads (I'm also paying for the new forum so you won't have to deal with pop-up ads...myself, I hate them!). It also costs me money to go out and check out bands so I can write reviews (cover charges add up, y'know!). Sponsoring SA Rocks means more exposure for bands and clubs in the form of reviews and also sponsors get prominent ads on here - it's DIRT CHEAP advertising, folks! You can get a graphic sponsor ad on here for as little as $100 a YEAR (that's about $8 a month)...half-price for bands (cuz I love you all!). It doesn't get much cheaper than that for very targeted traffic...almost everyone that comes here is either a musician or a music lover looking for info on local bands or clubs.
Third, and this is not really new stuff, but it's cool stuff...traffic is building! We had over 4,000 hits for September...more than 3,000 separate individuals came here. Almost 20,000 hits since I started SA Rocks in April. The sarocks.com site is redesigned and is finally getting some traffic...400+ hits in September. And the SA Rocks MySpace page has gotten over 1,200 views since I made it a month and a half ago...over 450 "friends". Getting there, getting there! I'm curious to know from bands if people have told them they found out about them on here.
At least two bands have told me that. From Lesti Huff: " I HAD A FEW PEOPLE VISITING FROM COLORADO & FOUND ME ON YOUR SITE. THEY CAME OUT TO ONE OF MY SHOWS & BOUGHT CD'S & A COUPLE T-SHIRTS, HAD A GREAT TIME. WHAT A TRIP! I LOVE THE INTERNET!" And from Deja Vu: "Thanks for putting us on your site last night...people showed up at Tripps because they heard we were there!" I love to hear stuff like that!!
