Luna's
Doc Watkins and his Hat Creek Seven is an 8-piece “little Big Band”
under the direction of band leader Dr. Brent “Doc” Watkins.
Converging the Western Swing movements of Bob Wills and Willie Nelson with the New York Jazz tradition of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, Doc Watkins and his HC7 cover a variety of musical literature, from songs of the early Swing era to well-known Jazz standards to custom arrangements of songs by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and other Texas-influenced songwriters.
Carrying a musical flavor permeated with the spirit of Texas, the band possesses a professional, fun, and distinctive style perfectly suited for dance halls and similar venues.
The group’s latest EP (planned for release in late 2012) was recorded live from the historic Sisterdale Dancehall and vividly displays the band’s vibrant and entertaining musical personality.
